Keukenhof Gardens and Pairi Daiza Zoo – Adventures with Uncle Mark (Part 3)
My absolutely FAVORITE stop with Mark was Keukenhof Gardens. It was incredible.
On our drive to the gardens we passed fields and fields of tulips and flowers along the sides of the road. Everything was so colorful and reminded me of the classic Holland pictures you see on post cards. It was VERY difficult to get a picture of the large fields that accurately captured the beauty, but I posted a couple just because. It was so depressing what the photos looked like that we just stopped and enjoyed the moment.
Once we were inside the Gardens, it was breath taking. Colors and flowers everywhere!! Can you imagine how it smelled???? I wanted to bottle it up and stay forever. It was amazing.
We stopped to have a Holland snack! These tiny pancakes (I’m not sure what they’re called) are super delicious and fun to watch being made!
They also have a cute little petting zoo inside! The boys enjoyed the playground and the zoo the most.
Our view on the drive home 🙂
~ Pairi Daiza Zoo ~
Our last day with mark… it was a perfectly sunny day to visit our favorite zoo, just 10 minutes from our house. You’ve seen lots of pictures of the zoo, like these here, but here are a few from our adventures with Mark.
Simons favorite, the Aquarium! He is studying “la mer” (the sea) at his school this year so when we went in, he went into full French mode! He was very comfortable with under the sea vocabulary and didn’t speak a word of English while we were in there! It was great French practice for me. I’m so impressed with his French!
We found a new place in Paira Daiza, as we often do since it is so large, the snakes, spiders, and turtles boat! The boys loved it.
Another of Simons favorites, the white tigers.
A stop at the playground for lunch and ice cream. What a great day!
One of MY favorites! The Elephants.
We also stopped to see the bird show, which was amazing, but we didn’t snap any pictures. Worth sitting for if you go!
Goodbye Mark….
We had SO much fun with Mark. We’re so happy he came to visit. We won’t promise to show everyone around Belgium like we did for Fun Uncle Mark, but any friends or family are always welcome here! We have a spare bedroom and a train station within walking distance 🙂 See you all soon!
