This week has been crazy for us. We moved to a different house here in Cowley that is much bigger with a large yard. We are very excited about this change and are hoping to be in this house and area for quite a while 🙂
Yesterday we tackled the garden. Our house is still in boxes but at least the garden is planted! It was a lot of work partly because the space for gardening is very large. We’ve got about 17 rows 50ft long! It started as a weed pile in the morning, then we had a guy come rototiller it for us. Then we made the rows and planted all the stuff! Took about 5 hours and a couple sunburns but it was worth it! We decided to do flood irrigation for watering which is new for us but very popular around here, we’ll see how it goes. Here’s what we did from front to back…
Candy Onions / Watermelon
Bell, Anaheim, Jalapeno peppers
Cherry and Roma Tomatoes
5 Rows of Corn
We also planted a herb and spice graden 🙂 We planted…
Lavender, basil, oregano, garlic, dill, cilantro, cabbage, and 3 different kinds of lettuce.
Needless to say, we will be canning A LOT this fall!! We are so excited about this move and can’t wait to get everything unpacked. House pictures soon!!
Here’s some pictures of the long process!
This was AFTER we pulled a MAJORITY of the weeds! What a project..
Totally worth the $50 he charged to rototiller. It took him 20 minutes!
Nick making rows and ditches for the water.
Finished and watering!
Herb and Spice Garden under the kitchen window
So pretty and definitely worth it! Can’t wait for things to start popping up!
